Kickboxing is an extremely suitable sport to work on discipline, perseverance and dealing with authority. The sport is for young people who want to become resilient and for young people with aggression problems. Ultimately, kickboxing in our implementation is about building self-confidence and applying respect.
Once in conversation, confidence is built. We talk about family, school, work and future. We talk with the group and individually with the youth and offer a listening ear. Not as a counselor but as a father figure.
Why is kickboxing good for you?
Juíst with practicing a martial art, young people learn to better deal with aggression, resilience and the aforementioned discipline and authority. Emerging anger is channeled and choices are made. With kickboxing, you learn to cooperate, set boundaries and listen in class. Running away or giving up is not an option, nor is it possible at school or at work. You learn to deal with your own problems. Think of it as a kind of movement therapy with a message in between. Self-confidence is the best word to link to the outcome.
The classes are led by multiple world champion Faldir Chahbari. Classes are every Wednesday afternoon in a room at Anytime Fitness in Groesbeek.
You can sign up for kickboxing by contacting the youth work of Forte Welzijn. They will then put you in touch with Faldir.
