What is the Bridge Program?
School's cool Nijmegen & Region pairs students enrolled in our Bridge Program with a volunteer mentor. The mentor helpt helping to ensure a successful start in the first grade and enlargeot thus increase the likelihood of a successful school career.
Mentor and student meet weekly at home or at school for customized guidance. This can include, for example, planning homework, self-confidence or motivation. And there is room for fun things, playing soccer or visiting a museum, for example.
If you're entering the first grade, it can be nice to have someone to help you along the way so you get good grades. New classmates, strange subjects, different teachers and more homework. Quite an exciting new life. A mentor from School's cool will come to your home for 1 or 1 ½ hours each week, just for you. You practice working independently and planning homework. If you don't understand something you get explanations or tips to find the answer yourself. You can always ask your mentor for advice, for example also if you have a fight at school or don't feel comfortable.
If you like it, you can also occasionally do something fun like play soccer, go to the library or visit a museum. Your mentor can also search with you for a fun hobby or sport, because that is also important for your school results.
Important: Only if you like it and want it too will we pair a mentor with you!
