Who is the group for?
KOPP/KOV stands for children of parents with psychological problems and children of parents with addiction problems. If your father or mother has (had) psychological and/or addiction problems, this can have far-reaching consequences for you.
What we hear quite often are comments such as:
“My father can sometimes sit behind the newspaper for hours without saying anything, which drives me crazy myself. Sometimes he's so unpredictable. I don't know what I have to do with him.” (Marlies 17 years old)
Content of the group
The group is certainly not therapy or treatment. The main purpose of the group is to find recognition, understanding and support with each other. You learn, from and with each other, to deal with difficult situations differently. Sometimes it is a relief to discover that you are not alone! Attention is also paid to a number of themes such as dealing with problems at home, leading your own life, feelings of guilt and heredity.
In the group we not only talk, but we also get creative and engage in exercises.
Practical information
The group meets every week for 8 2-hour meetings. If you want to sign up, we make an appointment for an introductory meeting. At that time you and the group leader(s) decide whether you will participate. As soon as there are enough participants, we will invite you to the first meeting.
Start: beginning Tuesday, March 10, from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
The KOPP/KOV groups are organized in cooperation with IrisZorg.
