The Special Care Hotline is there for socially vulnerable people with multiple, complex problems, who, according to their environment, need help and do not use care voluntarily. These people may be invisible to social services, lead a marginal existence or be visible due to nuisance. It may be that they no longer have confidence in the services, have lost contact with institutions, have fallen between two stools or do not know how to find help themselves. All possible reasons to contact us.
When you contact the Special Care Hotline, we listen to your story. We will ask you about whom you are worried and about what. Then we will give you advice on how to proceed. It may be that we give you the necessary information so that you know what you can do in the situation. We can also refer you to a social worker or organization that can help you and the person you are worried about. Finally, it is also possible that Bijzondere Zorg itself starts a process to help the person who needs help by leading him or her to appropriate care.
We always investigate the situation. We engage in a conversation with the person about whom you are concerned. What exactly is going on, are there already social workers, organizations or loved ones involved with this person? Where possible, we involve the family, loved ones and professional network. We work closely with, for example, the family doctor, police, housing association and (healthcare) agencies.
We think it is important that someone about whom a report is made is told as soon as possible that a report about him or her has been made to the Special Care Disclosure Office. Our starting point is therefore that you yourself let us know that you have made a report.
